MS Sports Coaching was founded in 2022 by head coach and director, Mike Sambell, who is best known as “Coach Mike” to the majority of the children and adults who take part in his sessions.
Mike attended the University of Cumbria in Lancaster, and graduated in 2012. With over a decade of experience in the coaching industry, Mike spent the first 9 years of his career based in Manchester, working in over 20 primary schools delivering both curriculum and sport specific sessions.
As well coaching in primary schools, Mike was also the management leader of a multi-sports holiday camp, which over the years saw attendance sore to over 90 children daily and became one of the busiest holiday camps throughout Manchester.
On the side from the “day job”, Mike is also a dedicated Level 2 Hockey Coach and has been since the age of 18. Over the years, Mike was noticed by the England Hockey Board due to his dedication and passion for sport and, is now a coach under the England Hockey Talent Academy Programme, which supports and develops players throughout the selection process to play for Great Britain.
In 2021 Mike decided it was time to bring his skills to the Lancaster area and MS Sports Coaching was born, with a clear vision and objective; to support children and adults to develop skills and gain confidence, through the use of sports and sporting strategies.
Mike is now head coach across multiple hockey clubs in both Lancashire and Cumbria, where he coaches both men, women and junior teams of all abilities, from 1st teams in the North West Premier league, to juniors who would like to learn something new.
Mikes coaching and local knowledge have allowed him to now offer coaching sessions in over 11 primary schools in the Lancaster area, ranging from curriculum sessions to after school clubs.

My son absolutely loved the Easter multi sports camp. He went for 5 full days and the range of sports on offer kept him excited and interested each day. He came home happy and knackered (bonus!). Thanks Mike, we will be back!
My 7 year old son really enjoyed his time at Easter Sports Camp. He's not into any particular sport but enjoys being outside and being with other children. There was plenty of activities to keep his interest. I recommend booking for Half Term/Summer.
